For example, Performapals all have “Performapal” in the name, and Nekroz monsters all have “Nekroz” in the title. But Fluffal decks break the mold with 3 archetypes fusing into one incredibly powerful deck. By fusing these adorable fluffy animals with horrible demonic knives/blades, you get Frightfur monsters. These guys are some of the most powerful fusion monsters in the game – and are definitely worth the effort to get them out on the field. If you’re taking a liking to these cards then let’s have a look at the best ones from this frightfully adorable archetype.
15. Toy Vendor
Toy Vendor is one of the most crucial cards in the Fluffal strategy. It’s a continuous spell that allows you to cycle through your deck quicker than before, and is an amazing way of loading up your graveyard for future use. Here’s how it works: Once per turn you can discard a card from your hand to draw another from your deck. Then if that card is a Fluffal monster, you can special summon any monster you like from your hand! If the card you draw isn’t a Fluffal monster, then you send it straight to the graveyard. So best case scenario, you’ll get an extra draw and a special summon. And in the worst-case scenario you’ve loaded up your graveyard with 2 monsters to use later for fusion summons – it’s a win-win.
14. Fluffal Sheep
In order to fusion summon with this deck, you’ll need to have both a Fluffal monster and an Edge Imp monster in your hand/on your side of the field. I mean, you can’t make a nightmare-inducing cuddly toy without a teddy bear and a pair of scissors, right? Fluffal Sheep sets you up perfectly for these fusion summons. First of all, if you control any other Fluffal monster, you can special summon this card from your hand for free – meaning this guy doesn’t use up your normal summon for that turn. Secondly, you can return another Fluffal monster to your hand to special summon any Edge-Imp monster from your hand or graveyard, ensuring that you’ll definitely have a Fluffal and an Edge Imp on the field, ready to fusion.
13. Edge Imp Sabres
And the award for the worst censorship on a Yu-Gi-Oh card goes to… Edge Imp Sabres! Apparently the white glow around the scissor blades is meant to conceal that they’re blades. But it just makes it look like these guys are incredibly shiny (or someone at Konami HQ loves the lens flare filter). But if you’re looking to fusion summon, then Edge Imp Sabres is your go-to material in this deck. While it’s in your graveyard, you can place any card from your hand onto the top of your deck to special summon itself – allowing you to bring it back to the field for a fusion summon pretty much whenever you need it!
12. Fluffal Cat
Fluffal Cat offers an amazing way of recycling your fusion spells. A lot of modern fusion decks like Shaddolls, Frightfurs, and Invoked will have their own in-archetype fusion spell card. And this often comes with benefits for the deck’s overall strategy. However, nothing quite beats fusion summoning the old-fashioned way: by using Polymerization and cards you’ve got around your hand/field. If you do use Polymerization with Fluffal Cat as one of the materials, then Fluffal Cat allows you to add Polymerization straight back to your hand and fusion summon all over again. This effect also works with other fusion spell cards that contain the word “Polymerization”, most notably Super Polymerization, which is an amazingly powerful quick-play spell that can fusion summon using your opponent’s monsters (and can’t be negated either). With cards like Fluffal Cat in your deck, your field will be full of fusion monsters before you know it.
11. Fluffal Bear
This poor little guy barely spends any time on the field, since he has two amazing effects that trigger when he’s sent to the graveyard. I guess that’s where he thrives, right? By sending Fluffal Bear from your hand to the graveyard, you can set a copy of Toy Vendor straight from your deck to your side of the field. You can’t activate it this turn, but during your next turn you’ll be able to load up your graveyard to your heart’s content. Or alternatively, you can send Fluffal Bear from the field to the graveyard, to return one Polymerization from your graveyard to your hand – setting you up for yet another fusion summon.
10. Frightfur Sheep
This guy definitely didn’t keep the cute looks from Fluffal Sheep, huh? Frightfur Sheep is an incredibly powerful fusion monster, gaining more power each time your opponent has to deal with it. First of all, when this guy attacks your opponent they’re unable to activate any cards or effects until the end of the damage step. Pretty great effect! This means they’ll have limited options if they want to stop the attack itself. And second of all, every single time Frightfur Sheep is destroyed (whether by battle or card effect), it’ll revive itself straight back from the graveyard – with an 800 attack boost! Once this guy has been destroyed a few times, you’ll be looking at a monster with a ludicrously high attack stat that can barely be negated in battle: This sheep is as horrifyingly powerful as it is, well, horrifying!
9. Fluffal Owl
We’ve seen a few cards on this list that allow you to reuse copies of Polymerization. But what if you’re down on your luck and didn’t actually draw one in the first place? Well Fluffal Owl has you covered, and in two ways! Firstly, when it’s either normal or special summoned, you can search Polymerization to add it straight from your deck to your hand. And then on top of that, once per turn you can pay 500 life points to pretty much use this guy as its own fusion spell: allowing you to fusion summon a Frightfur monster from your extra deck using cards from your hand/field as the materials. Note you can only use one of these effects per turn. But either way, with Fluffal Owl on your side, you’ll be fusion summoning no matter what.
8. Fluffal Wings
I have to say, considering most of the Fluffal cards are drop-dread adorable, Fluffal Wings is pretty ugly. I mean look at it. The butterfly wings, the lack of a face, all combined with the creepy human hands? This guy is nearly as creepy as the Edge Imp monsters! Despite that, Fluffal Wings combos perfectly with Toy Vendor. If this card is in your graveyard and you control Toy Vendor, you can banish this card and any other Fluffal monster in your graveyard to draw a card. Then you can send Toy Vendor from the field to the graveyard to draw another card! It’s worth noting that when Toy Vendor is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can add any Edge Imp or Fluffal monster from your deck into your hand as well. Meaning Fluffal Wings gives you a big card advantage.
7. Dangerous Frightfur Nightmary
This is definitely one of the most costly cards in the extra deck, costing 3 monsters to fusion summon. But boy is it worth it! Dangerous Frightfur Nightmary gains 300 attack for every single fiend or fairy in your graveyard. This means that every Fluffal, Edge-Imp, or Frightfur monster in your graveyard will boost up this card’s attack. And if there’s one thing this deck can do really well, it’s load up the graveyard with monsters. With this ability you can easily turn Dangerous Frightfur Nightmary into an unstoppable 4000 attack goliath. In fact, this card has its own in-built way of boosting its attack even further… Whenever this card destroys an opponent’s monster in battle, you can send Fluffal, Edge-Imp, and/or Frightfur monsters from your deck to your graveyard, up to the level of the destroyed monster. Most of the main-deck monsters have tiny levels. So you can easily stock up your graveyard in no time.
6. Frightfur Tiger
You know, for a stuffed toy that’s been stuffed full of possessed razor blades, this card is pretty damn cute. Frightfur Tiger can be summoned with 1 Edge Imp Sabres and as many Fluffal monsters as you like, getting stronger for each Fluffal monster used. When this card is fusion summoned, you can destroy cards on the field up to the number of cards used for its fusion summoned. So at a minimum, you’re looking at popping one card (which is definitely still incredibly useful), and at best… well, you could destroy your opponent’s entire field! This guy also gives all of your monsters a nice little boost, with all Frightfur monsters gaining 300 attack for each Fluffal and Frightfur monster you control. While Frightfur monsters generally have amazing attack stats, I’m never gonna say no to a little upgrade.
5. Fluffal Mouse
Fluffal Mouse is easily the cutest card in the entire deck, and one of the most powerful too. This also swarms the field like no other, allowing you to special summon 2 more copies of Fluffal Mouse straight from the deck. While you can’t special summon non-Frightfur monsters from the extra deck the turn you activate this effect, there are definitely more than enough cards in the Frightfur toolbox to deal with whatever you need. Fluffal Mouse is definitely an essential card to run 3 copies of in any Fluffal deck.
4. Edge Imp Scythe
There are a lot of powerful fusion monsters whose effects trigger on summon. I mean, take a look at Frightfur Tiger: When this card is summoned, it destroys multiple cards on the field. Well, what if you could access that sort of power during your opponents turn, at quick effect speed?! Edge Imp Scythe allows you to do just that. By revealing this card during your opponent’s main phase, you can fusion summon any Frightfur monster using this card, and a Fluffal monster from your hand or field as the sole materials. What’s more, Edge Imp Scythe provides some protection for your newly summoned monster: Whenever a Frightfur monster you control would be destroyed in battle, you can simply banish this card from your graveyard instead.
3. Fluffal Dog
I think Fluffal Dog is easily the best Fluffal monster out there, and it should be easy to see why too: When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, you can search any Fluffal or Edge Imp Sabres from your deck to your hand. This is the card you want to be normal summoning every other turn. Most of the other Fluffals are useful even without their normal summon. But any turn you can start by normal summoning this guy is going to go great. It opens up so many options. You can either search out a Fluffal monster who can in turn search out various fusion spells, etc… or you can search out a copy of Edge Imp Sabres and immediately go for that fusion summon. It entirely depends how your hand is looking. But no matter how bad your hand may be, this guy’s got you covered.
2. Frightfur Sabre-Tooth
If you thought Frightfur Tiger was good, just wait till you see its upgrade. To fusion summon this card you’ll need to fuse a Frightfur monster with another Fluffal or Edge Imp sabres, making this guy one of the few fusions who require another fusion monster as a material. If this seems like a steep cost, don’t fret, it’s seriously not! This is because when Frightfur Sabre-Tooth is fusion summoned, you can special summon any Frightfur monster from your graveyard to your side of the field. This means you could bring that Frightfur monster used as a fusion material straight back, or you could special summon an even stronger one! Overall, this practically converts a Fluffal or Edge-Imp monster into its own fully-fledged Frightfur monster – all making this guy well worth the initial cost.
1. Frightfur Kraken
Frightfur Kraken is easily the simplest fusion monsters to summon with this deck, requiring any Fluffal and any Edge-Imp monster. Easy-peasy, right? And this guy provides the deck with something it was seriously lacking – powerful removal. Once per turn, you can target any monster your opponent controls and send it to the graveyard. This wording gets around any pesky card effects that say monsters can’t be destroyed by card effects (which is on a lot of powerful monsters these days). What’s more, Frightfur Kraken can also attack twice during the battle phase, and can also change itself to defense position afterwards. And its colossal 3000 defense will provide you with more than enough protection!
