It’s rare that a side quest is completed, and subsequently discussed, without a good reward attached to it. Assassin’s Creed Origins is no different. With over sixty different side quests and rewards, there’s a lot to do and collect. But which are most worth your time? Which side quests give the big boy rewards that you and your friends will be discussing over dinner? Let’s figure that out!
5. The Black Hood
Bayek is already a pretty cool guy. He’s an incredibly good Medjay, an excellent climber, assassin, and overall chill dude. What better way to respect him than to make him look really cool? This Black Hood outfit does just that. Possibly the slickest outfit in the game, the Black Hood turns Bayek into an Egyptian ninja, complete with an awesome hood and cloak. It’s a well-earned prize that’ll make you feel super cool sneaking through the night to clear out all those Roman camps and bases. How to Obtain: Defeat all ten Phylakes across Egypt to earn Ornamented Keys that unlock the legendary outfit.
4. Ultima Blade
Perhaps the oddest side quest in the game involves Bayek coming across some ruins centered around the number fifteen. Upon solving the associated puzzle, a portal opens, and we’re greeted with a crossover event that mixes both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Final Fantasy XV. After a surreal (and ultimately pointless) cutscene, Bayek is gifted a sword and shield lifted from the world of Eos. The Ultima Blade is the better of the two, and is a sword with high attack power that deals tremendous critical damage, as well as cribs the warp strike aesthetic from its previous owner. How to Obtain: Complete the Gift from the Gods sidequest found near the Pyramids of Giza.
3. Conductor of Souls
There comes a point in the game where you’ll be handed three mysterious sidequests, all of which talk about investigating unusual behavior in the Animus system. This kind of tech talk is pretty far removed from the usual Egyptian setting, so you’ll probably want to go check them out ASAP. When you do, you’ll be treated to one of three different boss fights against some of Egypt’s most famous gods: Anubis, Sekhmet, or Sobek. These fights aren’t simple, and require both a moderately high level and skill. Rewards reset every week. But defeating just one will earn you the Conductor of Souls, which is a powerful sword that heals you with every kill – and has a high critical rate. A great reward for defeating a (virtual) god! How to Obtain: Clear any of the Animus glitch side quests for the first time, it doesn’t matter which.
2. Imitation Siwan Khopesh
I know that whenever you see imitation in the name of a weapon, you probably are a little hesitant about it. But hear me out: this is a fine piece of gear – if you can manage it. It deals great damage, has a good crit rate, causes bleeding, and is cursed. Yes, cursed. This particular affliction means the weapon will deal an additional 200% damage, meaning you can defeat things very quickly. As a trade-off, Bayek’s max health will be reduced greatly. But with such power, do you really need all of it? How to Obtain: Complete the Forging Siwa sidequest in Faiyum.
1. Trophy Hunter
The best kind of bows, in my humble opinion, are the Predator variety. Sniping enemies from great distances is not only a ton of fun, but also wildly efficient. With a good Predator bow you can clear out a camp in only a few minutes without even being near it. The Trophy Hunter is one of the best, if not the best Predator Bows out there. It has stealth and critical multipliers. Perfect for sneaky tasks as well as an elevation multiplier, meaning you’ll do twice as much damage from your heightened sniper nests. With this bow, you can hunt the most dangerous prey: man. How to Obtain: Defeat the twin war elephants Qetesh and Resheph in Uab Nome.
