And let’s just say that some have this characteristic way more than others. For this ranking we’re going to look over some of the shortest fuses anime has to offer, and see just how angry can they get. Especially at things you never knew people got angry about. These are our top picks for the anime characters with the shortest tempers of all time.

30. Yami Sukehiro

Anime: Black Clover Yami seems incredibly chill most of the time, even when he’s literally fighting for his life. And yet the oddest things seem to set him off. Most notably his bowel movements. The man sees his toilet time as a very sacred thing, and if you interrupt him he will probably try to squeeze you brain out of your head. He also gets extremely angry if the other Black Bulls make a mess out of their base. Which would be fine, if it weren’t for the fact that he always does even more damage out of anger. Quite the hypocrite, aren’t we? And don’t get me started on his competitiveness.

29. Sei Handa

Anime: Barakamon If this man had taken some anger management classes prior to the pilot episode, this entire show would never have existed. In case you didn’t know: he sets the story into motion by sucker punching an old man just because he didn’t bow down to his calligraphy. So he’s sent to an island so the lovable folk will rub off on him. It takes him quite a bit to stop yelling at everyone and toss children outside like they’re bowling balls… but hey, you live and you learn. Not to punch old people.

28. Overhaul

Anime: Boku no Hero Academia Overhaul’s anger is the anger of every single person that lived through… well, basically the entire past few years IRL. This man really hates germs. And if you breathe too hard in his direction, he’ll probably get quite hissy. Which is terrifying when you think about the fact that he can make your entire body explode by touching you. Once he even murdered his subordinate for failing a mission, and then got pissed that he had to touch him to splatter his blood across the walls. Like damn man, at least try to act like you have some chill.

27. Ryūnosuke Akutagawa

Anime: Bungo Stray Dogs His nickname is literally the Rabid Dog. Which paints quite a picture about his personality. My man has quite the inferiority complex, making him lash out at everyone so that he can belittle them and feel like the alpha dog. Fair enough, I guess. And power-wise he is definitely up there, as he has quite a few feats under his belt. But when paired with Tiger Boy it’s like watching a divorced couple going to Walmart or something.

26. Hitagi Senjougahara

Anime: Bakemonogatari Senjougahara is a different type of angry. You see, she won’t really lash out and yell at you. But rather say incredibly hurtful things while looking completely calm. Okay, sometimes she will try to stab you with a ruler or staple your mouth shut. But that is a whole different story. So if we imagine a little “passive” in front of aggressive in the title of this list, I’m pretty sure Senjougahara would be an undisputed pick.

25. Ginti

Anime: Death Parade This man couldn’t be a bigger polar opposite to Decim if he tried. While Decim is out here straight chilling, doing his job and making some puppets, Ginti is always in the middle of a tantrum. People who are unlucky enough to be placed under his judgement can’t hope for much help, as he will usually either seemingly ignore them or just scream at them. And that’s kind of metal, right? Dying and then having an arbiter screaming at the top of his lungs because you’re taking too long to give up in a game of Twister.

24. Vegeta

Anime: Dragon Ball Z Pride and anger are the things that make Vegeta who he is. Mister “Prince of all Saiyans” got a pebble in his shoe when that albino lizard blew up his planet, and he never managed to get it out. So we have the usual routine of laughing at his opponent, fighting his opponent, starting to lose, getting angry, and blasting the enemy with everything he has. This makes a big cloud of dust, the enemy survives, and everyone begs the Goku god to save the day. The second fiddle lifestyle really isn’t suited to this man.

23. Shizuo Heiwajima

Anime: Durarara!!
Getting angry is what made Shizuo a major character in this show. He would get angry so often and to such a degree that he just kept breaking bones and tearing his muscles as he tried to hurl something at the victim of his anger. Over time that made him become the Hulk, and he can now throw vending machines at you and take a nuke to the face without losing his step. Shizuo getting angry and costing the city a few millions in repairs is the staple of the show. And I wouldn’t like my superhuman butler man bodyguard any other way.

22. Leorio Paladiknight

Anime: Hunter x Hunter (2011) Leorio is one of my favorite characters in the show because he keeps it real. While everyone else doesn’t bat an eye at the sight of murder, my man is the voice of reason who freaks out. Same goes for anger: while other characters get angry once per season and it makes them 100 times more powerful, Leorio just gets angry all the time. And the only thing that happens is that his head gets animated as really big while he’s yelling. He also totally socked Ging, which was beyond enjoyable.

21. Rak Wraithraiser

Anime: Tower of God How is Gator-man the most human character in this show? While everyone is playing 3d chess or simping for blondie, Rak just wears his emotions on his sleeve and reacts to anything and everything that happens around him. And the man doesn’t even have sleeves! He tries to keep up his all mighty persona alive, though. So whenever his ability is questioned, he will flip livid and call you a turtle. He also sorts the turtles by color, and I’m pretty sure that’s racist in some way.

20. Kazuma

Anime: KonoSuba Kazuma truly is the champion of the common man. And as such, he gets angry at things that are realistically infuriating. But other anime characters don’t seem to see it that way. Whenever his party is absolutely useless, there’s no grand speech about nakama power and a victory. But rather a lot of yelling and maybe some death threats. If he gets approached by some random douchy prince talking about how “commoners have no souls” there’s no calm and cool response. Nope, rather a cheap shot to the face. I love this man.

19. Yuno Gasai

Anime: Mirai Nikki Anger issues and yandere go hand in hand, don’t they? I mean sure, most of the time she will just stare at Yuki with those beady little eyes and do something creepy. But the second someone breathes in his direction, she blows her top and just flat out murders them. There’s no room for discussion. And RNJesus really had to be on your side in order to survive her anger. With a lot of these characters their anger is played up for laughs. With Yuno it’s played up for genocide.

18. Eva Heinemann

Anime: Monster There’s a certain word that comes to mind when talking about Eva, something about a female dog I think. She’s a narcissistic, angry drunk is what I am saying. Never have I seen someone be so petty over a break up for such a long period of time. And her anger towards him never really diminished, even after entire years have passed. She also burned down a mansion because a guy she liked for like 5 minutes got back together with his wife. There’s a reason she needed counseling, and thank the Lord she got it by the end of the series.

17. Ikumi Mito

Anime: Food Wars! You don’t usually want your butcher to have this bad of a temper. I mean, she’s carrying knives around. And she knows how to slice you up in the most efficient way for you to end up in someone’s dinner. With Ikumi it comes from her extreme competitiveness, never wanting to be outdone. Especially if meat is involved. I mean, it’s even in her name. So if she’s ever challenged or someone doesn’t give her the respect she thinks she deserves, she is bound to get violent.

16. Meliodas

Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins Okay 99.99% of the time, my man Meliodas would not be on this list. However that 0.01% is far too intense to overlook. I mean, the man basically destroyed an entire city in a single wave of pure anger. The anger was definitely justifiable, but Jesus can’t you just punch a door like everyone else? He goes through an entire training arc trying just to get his anger and sadness under control. And even then he ended up going down a pretty dark path. So he’s either chill or will blow up your city, one of these is more extreme than the other. He’s also the sin of Wrath, which helps.

15. Hajime Sugoroku

Anime: Nanbaka This man’s anger I can get. I mean, he works as a prison guard and just had to be stuck with the literal best prison-escapists in the entire world! Can you imagine how infuriating it is to try and do your job while four inmates keep escaping out of pure boredom? This has made him quite quick to anger. And he won’t think twice about clanging you over the head if you push your luck too much.

14. Sakura Haruno

Anime: Naruto: Shippuden When has Sakura ever not been mad, sad, or impaled? While Naruto and Sasuke were out in the world training and learning new jutsu, Sakura just finally learned how to direct her anger into her fists! Okay, I know it’s actually about chakra control. But she honestly couldn’t have picked a better fighting style, considering how frequently she blows her top. I mean, she even found the time to be angry at Naruto during the Kaguya battle. Now that is some commitment.

13. Kaoru Yamazaki

Anime: Welcome to the N.H.K. It’s really hard to have passion without anger sometimes. I guess it just is what it is. That passion to Kaoru, just like most of my writing career, is directed towards anime girls. So any insult towards his waifus is bound to be the beginning of a screaming match. And honestly, I’m just waiting for the moment when he whips out a katana and starts slicing fools to bits. He also gets quite fussy when presented with mediocre anime girls, as he is a true man of culture!

12. Tatsumaki

Anime: One Punch Man With great power comes a great possibility of being a tsundere, or something. Tatsumaki is your typical high and mighty character with the added twist of being able to drop meteors onto the planet. Yes, that’s a real thing she did. Just because her opponent got on her bad side. She also repeatedly stabbed a person for fun. She was drunk, but you can definitely see how many aggressive tendencies are present in this character. She is quite adorable, though. So I wouldn’t be too disappointed if she yeeted me into the Sun.

11. Amatsuyu Kisaragi

Anime: ORESUKI Are you the only one who loves me? To give you a peak at Jouro’s headspace, just go to r/niceguys and look at a couple of posts. That’s right ladies and gentlemen: he’s that one guy that acts extremely nice, while spouting the most hateful stuff about you in his head in the hopes that you’ll sleep with him, woo. Okay, his character does get way better after the first few episodes. But that just means he becomes more transparent and is now just angry in your face. Baby steps, baby steps.

10. Albedo

Anime: Overlord Love will make you do some crazy things. And when you’re literally programmed to love someone with your entire body and soul, you’re bound to do some really crazy stuff. If you insult her directly she will only get mildly infuriated. But heaven forbid if you dare speak ill of Ainz, she will unleash the very jaws of hell unto your unassuming ears and will probably try to off you if she can. On the other hand, Ainz got to pick his non-existent nose. And Albedo would find a way to get off on it. Programming, am I right?

9. Nobuchika Ginoza

Anime: Psycho-Pass An oddity on this list, we have a rulebook rager! Yes, his backstory really puts into perspective why abiding to the rules means so much to this man. But he is still beyond just snappy during most of his screen time. If the Sybil system determines that you’re a felon, he will treat you as such, no exceptions. And will scoff at the very mention of trusting these supposed criminals. And with that type of a superiority complex, even his father becomes the victim of quite a few outbursts.

8. Beatrice

Anime: Re: Zero Beatrice can be mad all she wants: she will never stop being adorable. When we take a peek behind the curtain and learn about her backstory, her cranky attitude becomes very understandable. In fact, I’m fascinated that she hasn’t blown at least a few rooms up. But at first glance she’s just this crabby little girl, who’s not really a girl age wise, who likes kicking people out of her library by fus ro dah-ing them into the wall. Never change Beatrice, never change.

7. Kusuo Saiki

Anime: The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. When the anime has a title like this, you can’t be all that surprised that the protagonist isn’t exactly the most cheerful fellow. In fact, I believe you can count on one hand the number of times Saiki has actually smiled if you don’t count his alone time. He always seems so done with literally everyone. And whenever his dad comes into the picture I can’t help but fear for his life ever so slightly. I mean, Saiki is basically a god power-wise. And if there’s one thing I learned from Greek mythology, it’s that cranky gods are quite the downers.

6. Mugen

Anime: Samurai Champloo If there’s one thing this rough and tough ronin hates, it’s other people. Unless they want to sleep with him, I guess. He has gotten into so many fights over the most trivial things that you really have to commend his skills keeping him alive for this long. He also goes against the usual nakama flow quite heavily, as he definitely wanted to ditch the other two protagonists a few times. He takes disrespect from no one, and it’s questionable whether he has ever kept his opinion to himself. And we all love him for it.

5. Eren Yeager

Anime: Attack on Titan Eren has enough hatred stored in his body to outscream the entirety of Tumblr. His hatred for titans is so intense that I now feel like going into attack mode whenever I see a person over 6 feet. And for a while this is what he was known for: the fellow who really wanted to lead a one-man genocide against those derpy looking naked people running outside of the wall. But with the continuation of the story, oh how the turntables… I bet he’ll get angry about that as well.

4. Naofumi Iwatani

Anime: The Rising of the Shield Hero The real title to this show should have been “The Rising of the Shield Hero’s Blood Pressure”. Because man, does the world just hate this guy. He gets baited as early as episode one, becomes an outcast, gets stuck with seemingly the weakest weapon, and barely has a clue what’s going on. Were we really surprised that anger fuelled his power-up? Thank god for slavery though! Don’t take that out of context, but thank god he met Raphtalia. Otherwise he would have popped a blood vessel by now.

3. Inosuke Hashibira

Anime: Demon Slayer I don’t think it’s possible for a human to channel the amount of chaotic energy that Inosuke has. He’s always thrilled and angry at everything. He will 100% just enter a room punch you in the face, and then starting chasing you around while screaming at you for no good reason. It’s a blessing that Tanjirou knows how to deal with him, and usually uses his anger to make him to something useful… otherwise the gang would get nowhere with this battle-hungry boar on their team. I do love him, though. He makes me laugh more often than not with his random outbursts.

2. Taiga Aisaka

Anime: Toradora! Of course I had to have my tsundere brunette princess on here. Her entire beginning schtick is that everyone is scared of her because she keeps swinging that wooden sword around in fits of rage. And her relationship with Ryuuji initially looked like a real-life comment section with the amount of hurtful things being said. But she softens up (except that one time the president catches her hands) and now she’s the most adorable girl ever to randomly hide in lockers.

1. Katsuki Bakugo

Anime: Boku no Hero Academia This man’s entire identity is based around his anger. Are you weaker than him? He gets angry that you’re so weak and can’t challenge him. Are you stronger than him? He gets angry that he’s not the pinnacle of might yet. Are you helping him? He gets angry that you’re looking down on him. You get the picture. Aside from a few moments where he opened up and showed a more vulnerable side, this man has always been just angry. A perfect topper.
