Well, helping like one of the crew might be a bit of a stretch… but nobody talks about legendary pirates and their pet cats! They talk about a legendary pirate and their monkey. So if you’re struggling to pick one from the Pirate Emporium, here’s our top picks for the best ones in the game.
10. Skeleton Marmoset
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium This spooky little monster starts us off because it’s not available for purchase right now – but there is a good chance it’ll come back. The Skeleton Marmoset offers a unique design for your monkey friend. It’s made of magic and bones that couldn’t hide any treasure if it wanted to! With all the ghost-themed stuff in the game, this skin can make a perfect addition to any crew embracing their scary side. This monkey has snuck into the Pirate Emporium toward the end of the year for the last 2 years. Fingers crossed it’ll do so this in future years to come!
9. Whitebeard Capuchin
Cost: 499 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium Want a pet that won’t blow your cover when you’re skulking around at night? Well I’d recommend leaving them on the ship, but if you insist on taking one with you, then the Whitebeard Capuchin is a perfect companion for a stealth mission. This monkey is almost completely jet black, apart from a little bit of white fur around the face. But it’ll blend in with the nighttime shadows. Monkeys are a little noisy when cannons start blasting, though… so don’t scold your pet if they get you caught, they can’t help it!
8. Midnight Indigo Barbary
Cost: 499 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium Just as you dress up your pirate, don’t forget that you can do the same with your pets as well. And some look much better with an outfit on than others. The Midnight Indigo Barbary is an unusual blue monkey with lighter fur around the face. Arguably a little bland in design, but this pet makes the list because it looks awesome in almost every outfit you can throw on it. And if you’re a seasoned veteran, how about that glowing Ghost outfit for pirates that are level 20 with Athena’s Fortune?
7. Dark Ember Marmoset
Cost: 499 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium In the Sea of Thieves, you’re spoiled for choice if you want a ‘cute’ pet. But finding one with a bit of a bite is harder to find. The Dark Ember Marmoset has fiery colored fur, and it looks amazing. But the best thing about its design is that this thing has a lion’s mane. Sadly, the mane only makes them ‘look’ like a king of beasts. This monkey is just as lazy as the rest of them – and you’ll still be doing the lion’s share of the work between the two of you.
6. Ashen Curse Marmoset
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium It’s well known that all Ashen cosmetics glow. But did you know that extends to pets as well? The Ashen Curse Marmoset is a stunning black monkey with fiery glowing fluff on its head, and all down its arms. The description in-game says it’s cursed with cuteness… Maybe that’s enough to overlook the wide-open rib cage.
5. Order Of Souls Possessed Monkey
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium It’s not surprising that the monkey that looks like it fell straight off the set of a horror movie would come to us courtesy of the Order of Souls. At least they weren’t trying to hide it with the name… The Order Of Souls Possessed Monkey has terrifying piercing green eyes, roughly stitched together clothes (at least, I hope they are clothes), and a tight purple mask that’s about the split open. What lies underneath that thing? Well, if you want to know so badly, give it a home and find out for yourself.
4. Gold Curse Capuchin
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium This little monkey has stolen cursed gold – and now pays the price. The Gold Curse Capuchin is made entirely out of gold, aside from the green jewels for eyes. And if you look closely, you can see the Gold Hoarders key symbol etched into its collar. Don’t feel bad about the curse though, as they seem happy regardless! We’ve all heard the saying ‘it’s not about the gold, it’s about the glory’. But if you feel like the gold is the glory, then I think we’ve found your perfect companion.
3. Hunter’s Call Forager Monkey
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium Unless you’ve really tried to grind for Hunter’s Call rep, you’ll never know the perils you have to face for a chance at the perfect catch. If you want a rough idea though, the Hunter’s Call Forager Monkey sums it up pretty well. This scraggly, scarred monkey isn’t the prettiest by a long shot. But it will make for a loyal friend as you take the seas head-on.
2. Condemned Captain Monkey
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium Don’t take this the wrong way, but this cosmetic is without a doubt the ugliest pet in the entire game. So why is it on the list? And why is it ranked so highly? Well, this is the Condemned Captain Monkey. And what can I say? This is Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, in monkey form! Davy Jones was an awesome villain – and his face could crack mirrors. The sea can be a cruel place so it doesn’t care how cute your pet is. Which makes this grizzled little guy a perfect pirate companion.
1. Reaper’s Heart Monkey
Cost: 649 Ancient Coins Shop Location: Pirate Emporium The other factions in the Sea of Thieves probably get jealous of the Reapers, with their range of slick-looking cosmetics for almost everything. And to top it off, they even have some of the best pets too. In fact, here’s one example to prove it. The Reaper’s Heart Monkey is a stunning pet, with a glowing heart and bright red eyes. It almost gives off steampunk vibes as it looks mechanical. Needless to say, this monkey completes the Reaper ensemble – but it also stands out in its own right, no matter what your motley crew of drunken pirates thinks.
