Once collected, these comet rocks can then be crushed into comet powder and used in several ship upgrades to help you move forward with the story. But since collecting comet rocks is one of the more advanced events in the game, this detailed breakdown will teach you everything you need to know.
What You’ll Need (Prerequisites)
Like most other things in Spiritfarer, getting comet rocks requires some prior upgrades, especially since it’s one of the more advanced items you will find in the game. This time, however, the prior requirements come in the form of:
Giovanni, the spirit Rock Destroyer ship upgrade
The first order of business is to find Giovanni and recruit him onto Stella’s boat. Now, depending on where you are in the story, there’s a big chance you have already recruited Astrid if you’ve gotten this far. If not, then you can first find Astrid at Bottom Line Corp. (X: 137, Y: 59), where she’s leading a worker’s strike. After a quick quest that consists of talking back and forth between the CEO and the protest leader, you can then invite Astrid onto your ship. From there, you can follow her questlines to eventually find Giovanni (Astrid’s husband), who you’ll come across at Loneberg (X: -40, Y: 192). Inviting Giovanni aboard Stella’s ship will bring you one step closer to the comet rocks.
Rock Destroyer Ship Upgrade
After Giovanni, the next step is to get the Rock Destroyer Ship Upgrade. To get this upgrade, start by visiting Albert’s shipyard, found at the coordinates X: 61, Y: 64, just near Alt Harbor. Alternatively, you can also get there via the nearest Bus Stop at X: 77, Y: 51. Once you arrive, look for the Rock Destroyer under Boat Improvements. Since it’s the fourth upgrade, getting the three prior upgrades is required. Here’s what you need to make the process faster: The Rock Destroyer will help Stella’s ship break through the rock barrier marking the map’s south-eastern area, where the comet shower events are exclusively found.
Meteor Shower Locations and Mini-Game
Finally, it’s time to visit the comet showers where you can get the comet rocks. Giovanni will first introduce you to the meteor shower events if he hasn’t yet. In any case, head on over to the Oxberg Region for the event. Here are the location coordinates for all of the meteor shower events in the game:
X: 175, Y: -82 X: 228, Y: -8 X: 205, Y: 18 X: 258, Y: 8 X: 248, Y: -121 X: 250, Y: -142
Once the boat gets near these meteor showers, the sun will eclipse to show the lights in the background. And save for Giovanni, who will teach you how to catch the meteors, all the other spirits will hide in their houses. Note: Once Giovanni passes through the Everdoor, you can initiate this event by interacting with the second-story door of Astrid’s bungalow. The mini-game itself is pretty straightforward. Once the event starts, colorful comets will rain down and leave glowing indicators where they land on the ship. Walk Stella over to these spots to acquire the items. The event itself lasts for 2 minutes, and each sparkling spot will always provide Glim and a high chance of comet rock. Either way, as long as you’re quick about it, each meteor run will give you a fair amount of Glims and comet rock. You can do this event as much as you like. These comet rocks can then be taken to the Crusher, where they can be grounded and turned into comet powder for some boat and blueprint improvements.
Additional Info
Unlike the other rocks, comet rocks can’t be planted at any of the Turtle sisters and are exclusively collected via the meteor shower event. One piece of comet rock produces one piece of comet powder at the Crusher. Comet rocks can be sold for 100 Glims, while comet powder can be sold for 200 Glims. Comet rocks are required material for building the Cellar and the Choral Bouquet boat upgrade.
