This show was revolutionary for me as a teenager. It took the stylish designs and complex narrative of Japanese Anime and made it more palatable to Western audiences, with a comic-like art style and more relatable characters, situations, and cultural norms. The Legend of Korra (2012) kept the same incredible style and attractive setting but updated the narrative and characters for older audiences. If you’re anything like me, you go to sleep every night hoping you’ll wake up to an announcement of a new Avatar show. That’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. But in the meantime, you can have your own Avatar adventures in The Sims 4 thanks to some fantastic CC and mods created by passionate simmers. Let’s take a look at the very best.
Korra’s Outfit
Check Out This CC Whereas Aang’s Avatar journey was about bringing balance to the world by equalizing nations, Korra spent most of her time traveling between worlds to bring inter-dimensional balance. For her, traveling to The Sims 4 must be a piece of cake – especially if you’re willing to help her by installing this Korra CC set. Simcandescent’s Korra outfit includes a top and gloves that show Korra’s water tribe heritage while letting her own willful, “punch first, questions second” personality shine through. You’ll also need Korra’s hair to complete the look.
Four Tribes T-Shirt Set
Check Out This CC Whenever I’m looking to buy merch from a show I love, I try to keep things symbolic. I’d rather have a t-shirt with a transmutation circle print instead of Edward Elric’s face on it – and I think I’m not alone. This custom Four Tribes shirt CC set by Velouriah is the perfect example of a stylish symbolic design that’ll make fans get hyped and strangers wonder what kind of religious cult they belong to. This shirt comes in four bright colors matching the four elements: Wind, Water, Earth, and Fire. And it features the symbol of the correspondent tribe emblazoned on the chest. These tribal shirts are available for both male and female Sims.
Katara Outfit & Necklace
Check Out This CC Katara is one of the most beloved female cartoon characters from recent years. Her tan skin makes Avatar: The Last Airbender a bit more diverse, and her place as a strong independent woman inspires girls to be stronger and fight for their convictions. If you like Katara as much as I do, you’ll love MargoSims’ Katara Outfit CC – complete with a water tribe necklace! It’s a really detailed and accurate design with rich, deep colors and a high-quality model perfect for screenshot sessions and everyday play.
Water Tribe Hairstyles
Check Out This CC At the end of the day, an outfit is just an outfit. If you really want your Sim to become Katara, you’re going to need a particular hairstyle. Creator Jhoca offers us two iconic Water Tribe Hairstyles beloved by water-benders worldwide. These are based directly on how Katara and Yue look in Avatar: The Last Airbender. For those of you who don’t remember, Yue is Sokka’s short-lived Northern Water Tribe girlfriend who becomes the Moon Spirit. These come in 18 EA colors, plus a custom swatch for Yue’s white hair. And they can be worn by male or female sims, so don’t limit your creativity.
Appa the Dog
Check Out This CC Every Avatar fan has their favorite character – but I think we all love Appa. The original Appa from the show is a flying bison with six legs that’s big enough to carry the entirety of Team Avatar across the continent. That’s a bit hard to implement on TS4, so we’ll have to make do with this fantastic Appa-like dog by Katie Eevee. The face, the fur markings, and the overall feel of this pet totally match Appa’s. Sure, it only has four legs. But that’s enough when you just need them to go for walks and bury your owner’s car keys.
The Eastern Air Temple
Check Out This Lot There’s no better base of operations for Team Avatar than an abandoned Air Temple. The Eastern Air Temple was built by the first Air Nomads long ago. By the time we first see it, it has long been deserted – though it is reclaimed by Air Acolytes after the end of The Last Airbender. We can see the temple in its restored state in The Legend of Korra, when she comes to learn how to enter the spirit world, just like Aang came to learn to control the Avatar State. And with this custom lot, you can bring it right into your Sims 4 game. It’s a beautiful and exotic 50×50 lot surrounded by rocks and nature. Plus it’s furnished for eight Sims to take up residence within its halls, making it perfect for a whole cast of Avatar characters – or for a gang of backpackers who want to stay somewhere ancient and picturesque.
Zuko’s Burn Scars
Check Out This CC Zuko is seen wearing several different outfits and hairstyles throughout his journey, from bitter Fire Nation prince, to kind-hearted revolutionary aiding the Avatar to bring an end to his father’s tyranny. This mod by Velouriah brings us the one thing Zuko can’t change about his appearance – his left-eye burn marks. He got these during an Agni Kai – a fire-bending duel – against his father when he was just a teenager. When you think about this kind of abuse, it’s no wonder Zuko had such a twisted personality at the beginning of the show.
Aang’s Body Markings
Check Out This CC Here’s one more item, also by creator Velouriah, and it’s my favorite Avatar CC: Aang’s Body Markings from The Last Airbender. Well, they’re not exclusively Aang’s. These arrow patterns are traditional among Air Nomads. Even Appa has his own version of these symbols on his fur. But modder Velouriah did include one thing exclusive to Aang: The lighting strike scar he got from Azula’s cold-blooded blue lighting. This CC set includes versions with and without lightning scars. And in addition to the blue arrows, there are also white swatches that mimic Avatar State.
