Pets in Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds give your character a boost in CP and stats when equipped. They also have unique passives that improve your character’s performance in battle. Main Pets give you their passive skill and stat bonuses, while Sub Pets only give you their stat bonuses. Unequipped Pets give you 30% of their stat bonuses.

How To Unlock The Pet System

You can unlock the Pet System by clearing a Reputation Quest called “Finding a Soulmate”. Once this quest appears on your Quests tab, you can simply Fast Travel to the Golden Grove where a brief storyline will take place: There, you will meet Elderfairy Melty who’ll give you a task that’ll unlock the Pet System: After that, feel free to turn on the game’s auto-pathing system until you’re redirected to the Great Fairy. There, you’ll be given a 1★ Pet and 100 Fairy Forest Reputation Points as rewards: That’s it! You can now summon, equip, and combine Pets whenever you’d like. Below is the Pet System page UI. You can swap out, combine, reroll, and record all the Pets you’ve obtained here: To make stronger Pets, you must combine three lower-tier Pets to get higher-tier ones: Do keep in mind that combining Pets requires loads and loads of Territe, so be prepared for the costs! I would suggest prioritizing your Familiars and Equipment first, as upgrading them will consume lots of Territe and they can give you way more CP than Pets. Here are the success rates when combining each Pet tier:

Where To Get Pet Summon Tickets

Pet Summon Tickets are exceedingly hard to get if you’re F2P, as two out of the three most reliable sources are mainly for players who don’t mind spending some IRL currency in the game. One unlisted source that I would suggest you keep an eye on are Events, as while there hasn’t been an Event that gave away Pet Summon Tickets so far, this is likely to change in the future.

Source #1: Weeklies (Best Source)

Completing your Weeklies is the only reliable way you can earn Pet Summon Tickets completely F2P. You can claim one Pet Summon Ticket by reaching 100 Weekly Activity Points — along with 2 Familiar Summon Tickets and 2 Equipment Summon Tickets. If you consistently follow an effective daily routine, you will be able to claim these summon tickets in as little as three to four days!

Source #2: Asterite Exchange Shop

You can farm Asterite from PVP-oriented game modes such as the Familiar Arena and the Lava Valley. And with 600 Asterite, you can buy one Pet Summon Coupon in the Asterite Exchange Shop for up to 20 times per week! It’s quite hard to farm Asterite if you’re either a beginner or a complete F2P player, so I recommend just saving up Asterite for cheaper, higher-priority items like Superior Enhancement Stones.

For paying players (especially whales), the cash shop is by far the best source in the game for Pet Summon Tickets — as is usually the case for most in-game materials and resources. Whether or not you’d like to pay for Pet Summon Tickets depends entirely on your preference. Pets are just one of the many ways you can increase your CP, and whaling for them isn’t really necessary if you want a good gaming experience. But if you do decide it’s worth it, I would suggest buying time-limited packs in the Featured Shop – as they’re often more cost-effective than all the other shop items.
