The best way to farm these gems would be from those weird mummy looking heartless, the Wight Knights, specifically on the bridge to Oogie’s Manor in Halloween Town. You can also farm them at the actual site of Oogie’s Manor as well. Their drop rate is rather low, so it might take a while to farm enough gems for synthesis. So if you get impatient you can always try some other methods (which we’ll list below), but Halloween Town is generally the best place to farm these gems for drops. And you can use these to forge a bunch of synthesis items, like Defense Ups, Heartguards, and even the Ultima Weapon.
Where Can I Get Lucid Gems?
Lucid Gems can be farmed from a couple enemies, and then also from Bambi’s summon effect. Let’s check out all of our options here:
Wight Knights
These are the long, lanky mummy-looking heartless roam the streets of Halloween Town. With a 6% drop chance for Lucid Gems (2% in Final Mix), these guys won’t give up any drops easily. Yet they are unfortunately your best farming method. It might take a hot minute for them to finally give you enough Gems, but it’ll still probably be your quickest way. The bridge to Oogie’s Manor is crawling with them, as is the spot where Oogie’s Manor is(was) located.
Gargoyles
Winged nightmares of the sky, these Gargoyles are here to strike you down in Halloween Town. Just like the Wight Knights, these guys have a 6% drop chance for Lucid Gems in the original KH1, or a 2% drop chance in Final Mix. But unlike the Wight Knights, there isn’t a single specific area to really farm Gargoyles. So take ‘em out when you see them in the world.
White Mushroom
These white mushrooms come with a custom puzzle attached to them, where they’ll motion for a certain type of spell. Your goal is to cast the correct spell they’re hinting at – ideally 3 times in a row. For Lucid Gem drops, you’ll want to focus on Gravity. Once you see a White Mushroom levitating off the ground, that’s when you want to cast it. If you get Gravity x3 times successfully, then these mushrooms have a 60% drop chance for a Lucid Gem (this is only 10% in Final Mix). Or if you get the first two spells correct, but you use other spells, then you can cast Gravity as the last spell to still have a 20% chance at a drop. Your drop chances are higher here, but it’s also more work to find & play around with these mushrooms.
Bambi (in Monstro)
Summoning Bambi in Monstro gives you a chance to get some Lucid Gems too – assuming you can beat enough enemies. If you manage to fill up Bambi’s gauge three times, he’ll have a 60% drop chance for a Lucid Gem in the original game (or 20% in KH1.5/Final Mix). If you can only fill it up twice then you’ll have a 40% drop chance in the original game, or a 10% chance in KH1.5/Final Mix.
What Are Lucid Gems Used For?
Lucid Gems can be used in a handful of useable items and accessories, such as: Defense Up: Increase any party member’s Defense stat by +1. You can craft this in the original KH1 using List III and x5 Lucid Shards, x3 Lucid Gems, x1 Lucid Crystal, and x1 Mystery Goo. Or if you’re playing KH1.5/Final Mix, the recipe will use other ingredients and no Lucid Gems. Dark Ring: Defend against the forces of darkness with +3 Defense and +20% dark damage resistance, with stat boosts if you equip more. Forge this in KH1.5/Final Mix with List III and x2 Lucid Gems and x2 Bright Gems. The original KH1 game doesn’t need Lucid Gems here. Golem Chain: Give any party member a boost of +3 Strength and +1 Defense. You can craft this in the original KH1 using List II and x3 Power Shards, x1 Power Gem, and x1 Lucid Gem. KH1.5/Final Mix has a different recipe not requiring these gems. Megalixir: Who doesn’t want more Megalixirs? In KH1.5/Final Mix, you can synthesize this using List V and x5 Lucid Gems, x3 Lucid Crystals, x2 Gale, and x1 Dark Matter. The original KH1 has a different & equally lengthy recipe, but it doesn’t use Lucid Gems. Power Chain: This is a simple accessory that increases anyone’s Strength by +2. Synthesize it in KH1.5 with List I using x2 Power Shards and x1 Lucid shard. Gaia Bangle: An accessory offering +9 HP and +3 Defense. You can make one in KH1.5/Final Mix with List III and x5 Lucid Shards, x3 Lucid Gems, and x1 Lightning Stone. The original game’s recipe doesn’t need any lucid shards. Heartguard: An accessory offering +4 Defense and +3 HP, as well as 20% dark damage resistance. Synthesize this in KH1.5/Final Mix using List IV and x3 Lucid Gems, x1 Lucid Crystal, and x1 Bright Crystal. Master Earring: Here’s yet another accessory that’s well worth creating. It offers +4 AP and +2 Defense. And you can make this in the original KH1 with List II and x3 Lucid Shards, x2 Lucid Gems, and x2 Spirit Gems. KH1.5/Final Mix has a different recipe not requiring lucid shards. Ultima Weapon: Give Sora +12 Strength (+14 in KH1.5), +2 MP, and an improved crit rate. You can synthesize this in KH1 using List VI and x5 Thunder Gems, x5 Power Gems, x5 Lucid Gems, x3 Mystery Goo, and x3 Gale. Note that KH1.5/Final Mix has a much different recipe and doesn’t need Lucid Gems.
Are Lucid Gems Worth Farming?
These are needed in lots of very good recipes, most notably the Ultima Weapon. Unfortunately these are quite hard to come, by unless you get lucky with the low drop chance. And that’s basically your best method for really farming these – so it’s gonna take a while. Farming Wight Knights in Halloween Town will be easy but time consuming. With that said, it’s definitely worth the extra time spent stacking up these extra gems.
