The Namazu Tribal Quests are also part of the Tribal Quests for the Stormblood expansion, so you’ll need to finish the Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “All the Little Angels” from Isse in Yanxia (X:31.2, Y:28.9) before the questlines can be unlocked. Below we’ve created a quick step-by-step guide and a longer guide to help you out:

Quick Step-by-Step Unlock Guide

Detailed Unlocking Guide

The Namazu Tribal Quests are Disciple of Land and Hand daily quests released in patch 4.3 of the Stormblood expansion. There are two questlines you need to complete from two NPCs: Fukudo and Ochimi. However, these questlines can only be started after you finish the Level 64 Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “All the Little Angels” from Isse in Yanxia (X:31.2, Y:28.9). Once you’ve finished that MSQ, you can start either questline; the order doesn’t matter. You’ll need to finish four quests from Fukudo and six quests from Ochimi before the introductory quest for the Namazu Tribe can be accepted. Here are all the quests you need to complete, along with their locations and requirements:

Namazu Tribal Quests

After you finish Fukudo and Ochimi’s questlines, head to The Azim Steppe (X:17.4, Y:37.5). You should see a funny-looking catfish named Floundering Namazu. Accept his quest “Something Fishy This Way Comes” to begin the Namazu storyline. In this introductory quest, Gyoshin (the Floundering Namazu) will reveal the dreams he’s been recently having that may signal the end of their tribe. According to the distressed catfish, every 777 years, the Namazus must hold a seven-year festival to commemorate their tribe’s birth. Failing to do so will result in the destruction of their tribe. After a dramatic entrance, his friend Gyofun, the self-proclaimed “Seigetsu the Enlightened,” will say otherwise. But he does like the idea of holding a festival, saying it will start their “cultural renaissance”. This comedic storyline has six quests you’ll need to complete to unlock all the rewards for the Namazu tribe. Note that each quest will only be unlocked after capping your reputation points for each tier with the Namazus.

Daily Quests

The Namazu Daily Quests allow you to level up your Level 60-70 Disciple of Hand or Land jobs efficiently. Keep in mind that if you haven’t leveled any crafters or gatherers up to at least level 60, you won’t be able to do their quests. This tribe is unlocked using your combat-based jobs, but they’re meant to be done with crafter or gatherer-based jobs. You can accept a new batch of quests every 11 AM EST (or 8 AM PST). New quests can’t be accepted until you finish the ones from the previous day. These quests also count toward your daily tribal quest limit of 12, so plan out your allowances if you’re doing other daily tribal quests. Additional quests are added every time you level up your reputation with the tribe. There are no restrictions on what type of daily tribal quests you can pick with your allowances. You can mix Disciple of War or Magic quests (such as the Ananta) with Disciple of Hand or Land quests (such as the Namazu). You’re also free to accept daily tribal quests from different expansions at the same time.

Quest Sync

Starting from the Heavensward expansion, daily tribal quests will sync to your level upon accepting them. This feature syncs your experience gain to your current level. Remember that the intended level range for the Namazu Daily Quests is 60 to 70. If you do the Namazu Daily Quests with a Level 71 or above job, your experience gain will be capped at a low rate. At that point, it’d be better to do the daily quests of the tribes intended for the Level 70 to 80 range (Qitari). You also won’t be able to accept the quest with one job and turn it in with another job.

Rewards

You’ll receive two unique rewards upon completion of the Namazu Daily Quests, along with Gil and Experience:

60 Namazu Relations 1 Namazu Koban

Namazu Relations increase your reputation with the tribe, while Namazu Kobans are exchanged for further rewards. You’ll also get extra rewards depending on the crafter or gatherer job you accepted the quest with:

Namazu Koban Exchange

You can spend your Namazu Koban currency with Gyosho in The Azim Steppe (X:5.8, Y:23.5) for different rewards. Each item has a “Reputation Requirement” that you need to reach before they become available:

Reputation

Completing the Namazu Daily Quests is the only way of increasing your reputation with the Namazu Tribe. Leveling up your reputation unlocks better rewards and new types of quests. You need to gather enough “Namazu Relations” to unlock the latest main story quest and level up your reputation with the tribe. Assuming you do the three daily quests, you’ll get 180 Namazu Relations per day. It takes 31 days to reach the “Bloodsworn” Reputation, the maximum level you can have outside “Allied”.

Getting “Allied” Reputation

This is the final reputation level you can reach with the Namazu Tribe. It involves a questline that features all three tribes in the Stormblood Expansion. This questline will only be available after you reach the “Bloodsworn” Reputation for the three Stormblood tribes:

Kojin Ananta Namazu

If you’ve stopped doing MSQs after unlocking the Namazu Tribe, you’ll need to continue it again until you finish the MSQ “Stormblood” from Pipin in The Lochs (X:32.6, Y:22.9). Once you’ve capped all three tribes, talk to the East Aldenard Trading Company Assistant in Kugane (X:13.1, Y:9.7) and accept the quest “The Ananta Maid’s Tail.” Here are all the quests you need to complete to get the “Allied” Reputation: Once you complete the allied tribe questline, your reputation with the Kojin, Ananta, and Namazu will change from “Bloodsworn” to “Allied”. Finishing this questline unlocks the title “Kageyama Killer” from the achievement “West Meets East”. You’ll also unlock the Gratuity emote, which you can use to show off your wealth!
