This usually means being current with the Main Scenario and unlocking some optional dungeons.

Expert Roulette Background

The Duty Roulette in FFXIV is a feature that lets players queue up for a random instance. There are several different types of roulettes for different level dungeons, trials, and raids. One of the many Duty Roulettes in the game is the Expert Roulette. Each roulette has a different reward for successfully completing the randomly chosen instance. These rewards can be obtained once a day and resets every 11AM EST. This is a great way to give more experienced players a reason to revisit older content, lessening queue times for newer players. In fact, if you are grouped in with a player running the instance for the first time, you will get extra rewards for using the Duty Roulette. As new content gets patched in, the pool of instances in any of these roulettes tend to shift around. As of patch 6.1, there are 4 level 90 dungeons in Expert Roulette.

Unlocking the Optional Dungeons

Since “The Dead Ends” and “Alzadaal’s Legacy” are unlocked through the game’s Main Scenario Quests, you will eventually gain access to them by simply progressing the main storyline. However, the other two level 90 dungeons are unlocked through side quests. So you’ll need to take a few extra steps to get to them. Here are some quick guides on unlocking “The Stigma Dreamscape” and “Smileton”.

Expert Roulette Rewards

When using any of the Duty Roulettes, a player is typically rewarded tomestones, experience points, and gil. The most current variation of tomestones is also rewarded to the player when using a job that is at the current level cap. Since Expert Roulette will always include the latest dungeons, your rewards will include tomestones and gil. No experience points will be given since you’ll always be at level cap. Here’s a look at the specific rewards you will get for using the Expert Roulette as of patch 6.1:

Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism

Currency introduced in Endwalker, Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism are used to purchase the Moonward gearsets from Cihanti in Radz-at-Han (X:10.8, Y:10.4). Moonward equipment has an item level of 570. There is no weekly cap for Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism, but you can only hold a maximum of 2000 at any given time. The Expert Roulette has a daily reward of 60 Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism.

Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy

Another form of currency that was introduced in Endwalker, Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy can be exchanged for the Radiant gearsets. These are item level 590 pieces of equipment that can also be bought from Cihanti in Radz-at-Han (X:10.8, Y:10.4). While the number of Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy you can hold also caps out at 2000, the player is also limited to obtaining a maximum of 450 Tomestones of Astronomy every week. Progress towards this cap will reset every Tuesday at 12AM PST. The Expert Roulette has a daily reward of 40 Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy.

Gil (Moolah!)

Completing the Expert Roulette will also reward you with 7,050 gil. An additional 7,200 gil will be given if you get the Adventurer in Need bonus.
