It’s a part of the much larger Firmament update, which saw you and fellow Eorzeans band together to rebuild Ishgard. There’s a good reason this is one of the rarest Minions in FFXIV. The Achievement requires you to obtain 50,000 Skyward Points on any Disciple of the Land. This means that the score isn’t cumulative. So you’ll need to choose either Botanist, Miner, or Fisher to amass all the Points. The other reason this can be quite the grind is that you’re only able to receive Skyward Points from certain items. So while it’s a great opportunity to Level your Gatherers, you won’t be getting Skyward Points until around Level 80. All that being said, you’ll need access to the Firmament and Diadem first.

Getting Started

Head over to Foundation in Ishgard and seek out the Recruitment Notice (Foundation, X: 10 Y: 11). Accept the Quest “Towards the Firmament”. After a brief tour of The Jeweled Crozier, you’ll be given access to the restoration zone. From here simply chat with Augbert (X:11 Y:14), provided you have at least a Level 10 Gatherer, and you’ll be granted access to the Diadem. You’re now all set to gather absurd amounts of rocks, plants, or fish. The choice is yours!

Living Just To Diadem

So while it seems like a straightforward concept, it’s good to go into the Diadem with a plan. You’ll be spending countless hours inside, moreso if you’re interested in Crafting in the Firmament as well. Only certain items reward you with the Skyward Points you need. And each node has several items available on it. So ideally you’ll want to aim for the ones that give the most Points. Or at the very least the ones you can gather the quickest. Breaking down the specific Materials that reward Skyward Points per Disciple of the Land:

Miner

Botanist

Fisher

All Botanist and Miner items are traded in stacks of five. Once you’ve exited the Diadem, you’ll need to turn them in to Flotpassant (The Firmament – The Mendicant’s Court, X:11 Y:14) to convert them and receive your Skyward Points. The items you turn in also become usable Materials for various Collectables. One other useful trick inside the Diadem is to utilize the Aetheromatic Auger. While gathering you’ll passively fill up the Ather Duty Meter. It can hold a maximum of five charges, and once full can be unleashed on any of the monsters in the Diadem. The reason for doing this is that the monsters will drop large quantities of Materials. Meaning you’ll get a number of points just for sniping them! Tip: Different monsters drop different materials. So if you’re toiling away on Miner, you’d want to shoot for rocky creatures like Golems or Diadem Beasts. Further still, all Fish in the Diadem can be desynthesized, and they’ll turn into various Materials. This means that you’re not limited to just Botanist or Miner should you need things for Crafts. Once you’ve amassed enough Points, you can claim your Malone Minion directly from the Achievements Menu. No need to hoof it all the way to Jonathas.
