Every floor and chamber gives a lot of free resources. Even if you can’t fully clear everything, you still get multiple useful rewards. This includes Primogems, mora, artifacts, character leveling materials, and weapon enhancement ores. It’s basically one of the best and most consistent sources of materials in-game. Spiral Abyss is divided into two parts: the Abyss Corridor and the Abyssal Moon Spire. The Abyss Corridor consists of Floors 1 to 8. These floors don’t reset, and you can only claim each reward once. Fully clearing these floors gives all the following rewards:
2,400 Primogems 780,000 Mora Adventurer’s Experience and Wanderer’s Advice Mystic Enhancement Ores Domain Reliquary Tier I, II, and III Northlander Polearm Billet
Additionally, you get a free Xiangling upon clearing Floor 3-3. She’s currently the strongest Pyro DPS in the game – that alone should make Abyss worth a try. The Abyssal Moon Spire consists of Floors 9 to 12. You need to clear Floor 8-3 before unlocking this part of the Abyss. These floors reset on the 1st and 16th day of each month. Fully clearing these floors gives all the following rewards per reset:
600 Primogems 585,000 Mora 72 Mystic Enhancement Ores 42 Adventurer’s Experience and 24 Hero’s Wit 8 Domain Reliquary Tier II and 4 Domain Reliquary Tier I
Spiral Abyss is Genshin’s Endgame Content
Genshin still has many years before its main story comes to an end. For long-term and endgame players, Spiral Abyss is currently the only permanent and repeatable battle content Genshin has. Although not every player is fond of combat, it’s still the direction of most Genshin content. All gacha banners and resin spending lead to collecting and building characters. Where do you use your built characters? In battle content. And Spiral Abyss is the prime battle content that Genshin offers. Of course, playing Spiral Abyss is never required – but it definitely offers a lot of free resources that incentivize players to try it. Aside from the rewards, it’s also the best place to actually use your characters. Any level of investment and team composition will work in the overworld, but the same can’t be said for Spiral Abyss. Abyss challenges you to learn more about your characters, how to optimize them, and how to build teams around them.
When should you start playing Spiral Abyss?
Spiral Abyss unlocks at Adventure Rank 20. Any point after this is a great time to start playing Spiral Abyss. Even if you can’t fully clear most of the floors, you can always come back when your characters are stronger. Regardless, you gain rewards for every floor you clear and for every 3 stars you obtain.
When should you start investing in Spiral Abyss?
Generally, Adventure Rank 45 is a great place to start. This is when you unlock the highest level domains that guarantee 5-star drops. Drops from domains, bosses, and leylines also increase. From here onwards, you can already start building your characters long-term. However, it’s also never too late to start investing in Spiral Abyss. You can start at any point in the game, but it’s still optimal if you start sooner. And if you want to start preparing before AR 45, the most efficient way to spend resin is by farming bosses. Once you reach AR 45, you can then start ascending your characters. Additionally, most characters have different investment priorities – so it’s best to understand their kits before spending any resources.
Is it worth playing meta for Spiral Abyss?
Meta refers to the most efficient tactics available. All meta characters and teams in-game are the most effective way of clearing Spiral Abyss. So if you want to clear Abyss much faster, then playing meta is worth it. Being able to comfortably clear Abyss gives you a stable source of Primogems. Plus, those meta teams can clear most battle content, so you also don’t have to worry about the harder battle events. Still, any character can 36-star Spiral Abyss – but their investment requirements are drastically different. For instance, a level 70 Beidou can easily 9-star Floor 12, while a level 90 Xinyan can struggle to do the same thing. If you want to heavily invest in non-meta characters, then why not? But those characters will struggle more than the meta characters.
Is it worth pulling 5-star meta characters just for Spiral Abyss?
No, it’s not worth pulling a 5-star meta character just to clear Spiral Abyss. The 180 Intertwined Fates or 28,800 Primogems needed to guarantee a limited 5-star character is significantly more than the rewards you get from Abyss. Additionally, there are still strong meta teams that don’t need a 5-star character – just all 4-star characters. Examples of these are Sucrose National Team, Beidou Taser, and Reverse Melt. These teams exclusively use 4-star characters. Here’s a list of each team’s party members. Each team can also be upgraded by a limited 5-star character – but it’s not necessary. For instance, Tartaglia can replace Xingqiu in the Sucrose National Team. This will significantly buff the team’s damage against AOE. So, you can pull any 5-star character you like and still be able to build a strong team around them.
