They both have the grenades as their rare steals, so you’ll want to have Master Thief on your weapon to reliably get enough grenades quickly (the rare steal rate is ~12%). To customize Master Thief you’ll need 30 Pendulums.
What Are Frag Grenades?
They’re an attack item that has to be thrown with Rikku’s “Use” command. It does small to medium damage to all enemies, but what really makes it special is that it inflicts Armor Break at a near 100% rate. So enemies that are resistant to the ability Armor Break can still feel the heat using a Frag Grenade. The other joy of Fraggles is using them in Rikku’s mixes. Such as… Megalixir (Mega-Potion + Frag Grenade): Fully restores HP and MP of the party. Chaos Grenade (Return Sphere + Frag Grenade): Deals exceptionally large damage to all enemies, as well as inflicting Full Break, Slow, Poison, Darkness, Silence, and Sleep. Final Phoenix (Mega Phoenix + Frag Grenade): Revives all KO’d party members to full HP.
Are Frag Grenades Worth It?
I’d say probably no, not really. Frag Grenades have their uses for speedruns and various niche things. But Auron’s Banishing Blade overdrive also inflicts Armor Break at near 100%, and you can mix any two normal sphere items together with Rikku to get a Frag Grenade. So having Frag Grenades around is just kind of a fun bonus. I’d say try to get as many as you can on your first trip up Mt. Gagazet, and that’s probably all you’ll need. It’s just easier to rely on your party’s innate abilities. Believe in yourself!
