But if Gon hadn’t decided to just become his own dad, who in the vast anime universe could’ve stepped up to the plate? That’s what we’re covering today as I count down my five favorite picks for characters that could beat Neferpitou and give him a run for his money. So don’t expect anything too obvious like Saitama or Goku, those fights aren’t fun.

5. Atsushi Nakajima

Anime: Bungo Stray Dogs I’m going to start things off with Atsushi, as his win condition is rather debatable. Early game Atsushi couldn’t even hold a candle to Pitou. But I think that an argument could be made for this matchup if we look at the series finale. Overall, the biggest issue Atsushi would have is Pitou’s speed. Being how she jumped across the entire battlefield and took Kite’s arm in one swoop, Pitou shouldn’t be underestimated. That being said, Atsushi does have some speed feats as well. He can catch bullets with his teeth rather easily, and generally scales to characters like Dazai or Chuuya who seem to be at least supersonic. In terms of strength, that’s a bit difficult to gauge. Pitou has very precise striking power and is able to effortlessly take off limbs. Atushi on the other hand managed to defeat Fitzgerald, who didn’t even blink at the damage a city-wide explosion would do to him. So raw fighting power versus very precise and sharp hits. However, there is one area where I think Atsushi definitely has the upper hand – durability. Pitou was basically one-shot by a hit that sent her through a few dozen trees. Atsushi on the other hand has been completely impaled multiple times without slowing down. And if I were to guess, I’d say he went through a lot more walls and trees throughout the show. In fact, he barely even took damage. Overall, this fight would be a close one, with Pitou having the speed advantage. But if the fight is prolonged and Pitou has no time to use her puppets, Atsushi might stand a chance.

4. Shalltear Bloodfallen

Anime: Overlord Although Pitou is very powerful, she does have one major downside – her kit. This is because almost none of her Nen abilities are that useful in a fight. Aside from her Terpsichora. Yet Shalltear has so many active and passive abilities that it’s honestly difficult to keep track. This is quite important, as it allows her to surprise Pitou in several ways. Pitou wants to trade blows? Shalltear has life-steal. Does she want to go for an all-out attack? Shalltear rewinds time and negates the whole thing. And even if she had bodies to turn into puppets, Shalltear could counter by turning them into vampires. In terms of raw stats, Shalltear is a bit more difficult to gauge. But she should be comparable to Pitou overall. Although that hardly matters when you have a ten-page list of abilities while your opponent still barely understands their own power system.

3. All Might

Anime: My Hero Academia Just to clarify, I’m talking about Prime All Might for this fight. If nothing else, to avoid the time constraint for his power and to give him a bit more speed to work with. As you could imagine, a fight with Prime All Might should go eerily similar to how it went against Gon. In fact, it might even be a bit worse (for Pitou). This is because All Might can dish out mountain-level punches way more frequently and at a much higher speed. Even in his weakened state, he was able to Team Rocket a Nomu miles into the air. And as we’ve discussed, Pitou isn’t all that tenacious. One really solid hit to the face will be more than enough to get her out of the fight. Plus, unlike Gon, All Might is surprisingly tanky as well. Even while weakened, he tanked small city-level blasts from All for One without collapsing. So I’d even argue that Pitou couldn’t kill him with her post-mortem jump scare attack. The only debatable part of this fight is the speed difference. But since All Might was also noted to be capable of making huge leaps through the air and landing miles away (which is a notable feat Pitou does as well), I think they should be on a similar playing field.

2. Pain

Anime: Naruto: Shippuden Since Pitou likes to control corpses to do her bidding, this fight just felt oddly appropriate. It’s also the fight that I’d honestly like to see the most, regardless of how short it would last. When it comes to versatility, Pain is just leagues above Pitou and has a million ways of defeating her. For one, they can simply overwhelm her with numbers. Not only are there six of them straight off the bat, but the animal summons only make the situation more dire as Pitou wouldn’t be able to catch her breath. Plus she would need the grace of some omnipotent god to figure out in which order she has to take them out. Because, if she doesn’t take out the Naraka Path immediately, the other Paths just get a free revive – and all of Pitou’s effort would’ve been for nothing! And the Deva Path can pretty much one-shot Pitou with either Chibaku or Shinra Tensei. Overall, it’s not looking good for Pitou here. You’d think that she at least has speed on her side, but even that isn’t true. Being how Pain could react to Sage Naruto (who in term dodged a light speed attack a bit later on in the series) Pain is at a minimum on the same level as Pitou. Even in her favorite category, Pitou finds no victory. Only Pain.

1. Mereoleona Vermillion

Anime: Black Clover I’d like to end on this one, as the two combatants are thematically very similar. Both are very instinctive fighters, have feline features, and are absolute nightmares for anyone who dares to oppose them. All of that being said, the lion is definitely winning this fight. There are a few reasons for this. First: the experience gap. Pitou is basically just a baby who lost in her second real fight. While Mereoleona bathes in volcanoes and trains for days at a time with no rest. This also ties into the fact that Mereoleona has more options. Not only can she just fight Pitou straight up, but she can also use her magic in order to get the edge. A quite significant edge in fact, as she can just roast Pitou alive. And in case you haven’t guessed yet, Mereoleona even holds her own when it comes to speed. Considering she was way faster than Yami (who was dodging light attacks), Mereoleona is faster than Pitou regardless of how much we low-ball her. Plus, her detection abilities are on par with Pitou, so she can’t catch her by surprise either. The only advantage Pitou really has is that she’s better at running away as Mereoleona can’t jump three miles into the air. Overall, this fight would probably be a good one to watch. But I don’t think there’s a world where Pitou actually comes out of it alive and non-crispy.
