I mean, his character design alone speaks volumes as to how cool and intriguing he truly is. What can I say? Eiichiro Oda really did a good job in both creating and designing this character – but then again, doesn’t he always? But which anime characters stand a chance against the legendary Dracule “Hawk Eyes” Mihawk? Here’s some of ‘em who might actually have a chance.
10. Akame
Anime: Akame ga Kill! Kicking off our list, we have a skilled and highly lethal assassin named Akame. There’s an emphasis on the word “lethal” for a reason. After all, surviving a fight with this girl is virtually non-existent. Equipped with her Murasame, she can basically one-shot anyone with nothing but a scratch. And considering how fast and agile Akame is, I have no doubts that Mihawk would have a hard time dealing with her at the very least. She’s undoubtedly one of the strongest melee characters in anime – and she would be a troublesome matchup even for Mihawk, who has a few long-ranged attacks up his sleeve.
9. Erza Scarlet
Anime: Fairy Tail If there’s anyone in anime who deserves to be called a “Weapons Master”, it’s none other than our favorite red-haired waifu Erza Scarlet. (Sorry Kushina) And she’s not just proficient in weapons. Her Requip Magic also gives her the ability to swap between an array of armors as she sees fit. Each of these armor & weapon sets provides her with certain unique power boosts, which have gotten her out of some pretty tough fights (as the victor, of course). I’d say a match with Mihawk could go either way. But Erza is certainly not one to write off, considering the feats she’s capable of when she puts on her strongest armors.
8. Saber
Anime: Fate Series Here we have yet another fan-favorite waifu character who has achieved complete mastery in the ways of the sword. Saber (a.k.a. Artoria Pendragon) is the former King of England who then became a Servant later on in her life. Pretty ironic, no? But then again, Servants (who are copies of Heroic Spirits) are nothing to scoff at when it comes to battle. And especially not Saber. She’s undoubtedly among the strongest servants in the Fate series. And she’s more than capable of holding her own in a fight even against Mihawk.
7. Atomic Samurai
Anime: One Punch Man Like Mihawk, Atomic Samurai is yet another badass swordsman who can end any fight in mere a blink of an eye. Seriously, even blinking is not allowed when facing Atomic Samurai. To put this into perspective, he’s so fast that he can outdraw an enemy who already has a hand on his weapon – despite being caught off guard in point-blank range. Oh, and did I mention that he also did the man dirty by slicing him up into a million little pieces not even a second after drawing his sword? A battle between this man and Mihawk would surely be interesting. But realistically, it probably wouldn’t even last a minute.
6. Rimuru Tempest
Anime: That Time When I Got Reincarnated as a Slime We all know that slimes ain’t worth that much in any videogame/movie/anime ever. You know, the usual “fodder characters” that only exist to get killed for EXP and looted for low-tier items. Well this particular slime is an exception. After all, he’s so darn overpowered that he can pretty much solo most anime universes on his own. Not only that, but his potential is nigh-limitless considering the nature of his main ability — getting stronger by consuming his enemies. And after considering Rimuru has the advantage of being resistant to slashing or stabbing attacks in his slime form, I’d say he can defeat Mihawk pretty handily if he tried.
5. Uchiha Sasuke
Anime: Naruto Here we have the coolest edgelord of them all — Uchiha Sasuke. It’s a well-known fact that Naruto (the series) has some downright broken characters capable of using hax-tier abilities. Uchiha Sasuke, being one of the main characters and all, is one of these terrifyingly overpowered characters. I mean, not only is this guy impossibly strong, but he also has some pretty gnarly Jutsus he can use against Mihawk. I have no doubts this guy can defeat even the strongest characters in One Piece to date – which of course includes our boy Mihawk.
4. Ichigo Kurosaki
Anime: Bleach Soul Reapers in Bleach are pretty much like the strongest ninjas we see in Naruto in terms of strength and pure awesomeness. Only they’re immaterial long-lived entities who reap souls for a living. Now Ichigo might not be a full-on Shinigami. But it’s pretty safe to say that this particular character trait worked out for him in the end. After all, Ichigo has actually become the strongest Shinigami all because of his peculiar mix of Reaper, Hollow, Human, and Quincy essences in his soul. He’s strong and fast as all hell — so much so that not even an absurdly strong entity capable of destroying whole planets like Aizen could see him move.
3. Hiei
Anime: Ghost Fighter Getting close to the top of our ranking, and Hiei makes a great fit for this spot – being basically Sasuke’s shorter albeit more dangerous brother from another author. He’s an upper-level S-Class demon who can defeat almost every anime character in existence… let alone the characters in his own series. Simply put, Hiei isn’t a stranger when it comes to hard fights. And he has rarely lost at all, even after so many years of doing nothing but fighting. And although he’s stoic and reserved just like Mihawk, Hiei isn’t the type to hold back at all. Instead, Hiei will come at his enemies with all he’s got — something I believe that not even Mihawk with his mastery of Armament and Observation Haki can handle.
2. Meliodas
Anime: Seven Deadly Sins Meliodas straight-up humiliates his enemies as soon as he goes all out. He might not look like much. But this nigh-immortal demon is actually one of the strongest fighters in his series. Only when he’s at his best, that is. After all, he’s got some pretty great competition in his squad alone! But even so, Meliodas in his unassuming (kiddie) form is still enough to deal with most One Piece characters. Dare I say even Mihawk himself, whom I believe would have no answer for Meliodas’ insane speed and durability.
1. Future Trunks
Anime: Dragon Ball Z For our top pick we have the only DBZ character who has been consistently shown wielding a bladed weapon. Not that he uses a sword much – but at least he had some pretty cool kills with it! Remember what he did to Frieza and Zamasu? All in all, there’s not really much argument that could be made against Trunks taking the L. Especially since Trunks can literally destroy galaxies if he wants to. I’d still pick Mihawk over Trunks when it comes to pure swordsmanship though. After all, Trunks just loves ditching his sword far too much to be considered a proper swordsman.
